Thijs Meenink from the Netherland’s Eindhoven University of Technology
has developed a smart eye-surgery robot that enables ophthalmologists to
operate with a higher precision on the eye’s retina and vitreous humor.
The eye surgeon operates this robot using two joysticks with a haptic
feedback, allowing the surgeon to feel any of the resistance put up by
the patients’ tissues. The robot also has two robot arms that will copy
every movements of the surgeon’s hands and carry out the actual
operation. [Gizmag]
