NEC is ready to release the TeleScouter head mounted display in Japan.
The system consists of a pair of glasses and a compact 500MHz ARM-based
computer. These glasses enable users to view a virtual 16-inch
transparent display which is projected in front of them. The mini
computer features a 256MB of RAM, up to 2GB of storage space, WiFi
a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and a microSD card slot. Measuring 140mm x
90mm x 55mm and weighing 360 grams, the computer is powered by a
built-in rechargeable battery, offering up to 4-hour of operation time.
According to NEC, the TeleScouter allow employees to view documents such
as manuals, technical notes or reports while working with their hands.
The NEC TeleScouter will be launched on December 26th, 2011 for 400,000
Yen($5,200) with an additional 1,990,000 Yen($25,903) for the software. [AV Watch]
